Become a certified professional in Requirements Engineering and Management

The International Requirements Engineering Board (IREB) is a leading nonprofit organization that aims to advance the Requirements discipline. IREB has established a Certification Program for Requirements Engineering (CPRE), which is recognized worldwide. The exams are administered by the International Software Quality Institute (iSQI).

The program consists of four levels:

  • Level 1: Foundation Level
  • Level 2: Advanced Level (formerly Advanced Level Practioner)

Level 3: Practitioner Certificate (formerly Advanced Level Practioner)

  • Expert Level

This course will prepare you for the exam Certified Professional for Requirements Engineering Requirements Management Level 2: Practitioner. You will meet the criteria set by IREB and learn the international standards, methods and techniques for Requirements Management.

After obtaining the Level 2 Practitioner certificate you can take the exam for the CPRE Requirements Management Level 3: Specialist certificate.

After this training you will have the skills to:

This training is suitable for you if you are involved in Requirements Engineering and Management and wish to delve further in Management of Requirements.

Roles of participants in their organization

This training is meant for: people in Requirements Engineering, business analysis, business engineering, software- and system development, product management, release planning, and other departments who want to deepen their knowledge about management of requirements.

Prior knowledge or training

  • Candidates for the CPRE Requirements Management Level 2: Practitioner examination must already have received the CPRE Level 1: Foundation certificate or BCS Practitioner certificate in RE.
  • Candidates for the CPRE Requirements Management Level 3: Specialist examination must have received the CPRE Requirements Management Level 2: Practitioner certificate.

Structure of this training

Discover the essentials of Requirements Engineering in this interactive three-day training. You will learn about Requirements Engineering from both theoretical and practical perspectives. You will also engage in exercises and discussions to develop your critical thinking and problem-solving skills. To help you prepare for the certification exam, you will take mock tests during the course and review the curriculum in the evenings. The certification is optional and consists of two parts:

  • The Level 2: practitioner exam: this is a 75-minute multiple-choice exam that tests your knowledge of the core concepts and techniques of Requirements Engineering. If you need to take the exam in a language other than your native one, you can request a 15-minute extension.
  • The Level 3: specialist exam: this is a paper-based exam that requires you to write a report on a realistic project situation from your own experience, demonstrating your ability to apply the acquired RE skills.
