Description

Whether you are a (business) analyst, developer, tester or stakeholder in software development, you know how crucial it is to have clear and precise requirements to build the right software for your customer. You also know that this software must meet high quality requirements. In this masterclass you will learn how to achieve both aspects by implementing BDD in your organization.

The program covers a wide range of topics such as BDD, Impact Mapping, Event Storming, Example Mapping, Specification by Example, Test Automation, Testing, Requirements engineering, change management and coaching/facilitating teams within a BDD transition.

We provide a sound theoretical framework, which is enriched with constructive discussions and demonstrations of tools and techniques that you can use in various situations. Our focus is on real, practical applications. Thanks to the guidance of our experienced BDD-coaches, you can kick-start your career as a BDD architect/specialist.

After this masterclass you will be able to:

• Convince your organization of the benefits of BDD and guide the organization through this change (change management)
• Plan and execute the implementation of BDD within your organization
• Using various methods and techniques such as Behavior Driven Development, Impact Mapping, Event Storming, Example Mapping and Specification by Example
• Coach teams in writing the required Gherkin scenarios using an established domain language
• Advise on how to effectively implement test automation based on specification by example
• Support your organization in developing software that delivers value to your end users, by the use of automated testing and Living Documentation

Who is the training intended for?

Do you recognize yourself in the following: You are enthusiastic about BDD and want to take the lead in implementing this approach within your organization, but have difficulty convincing people of the added value of BDD and/or encounter a lot of misunderstanding about what exactly BDD is?

This training is suitable for you if you want to take the lead in your organization to succesfully embed the BDD approach. You want to guide the teams in your organization to create the right software faster by drawing up good Agile Requirements/specifications and (automatically) testing the resulting software.

Roles of participants in their organization

This training is meant for anyone who works in a software development environment:

• (Business) Analyst
• Requirements Engineer
• Tester
• Scrum master
• Agile Consultant/coach

Prior knowledge or training

• You are familiar with the concepts of BDD and Specification By Example. For example, by following the CARE training
• You have been working in a software development environment for several years and know what analysis and testing activities entail
• You know and understand the Agile mentality: There is a focus on delivering value in short cycles through collaboration

Structure of this master class

The program lasts 5 months with an average of 1 day of training/coaching every 2-3 weeks. Everyone in the class is expected to actively work with BDD and its principles during this period. The masterclass consists of 7 days with classroom meetings and a final assignment. A total of approximately 80 hours of self-study is required.

Topics

On most of the program days, 2 different topics will be covered. In addition, there is regular time for intervision.
